Earth is truly entering a critical period with the increasing emissions of greenhouse gases, mainly carbon dioxide CO2.

The public still remembers the last days of September 2014, when the phenomenon of global climate change suddenly caught the world's attention. The air was filled with 2,000 protests with 600,000 participants happening in many major cities around the world, from New York (USA) to Paris (France), from London (UK) to Sydney (Australia)...Next was the climate change summit with the presence of high-level leaders of 120 governments and representatives of 200 multinational corporations worldwide. The air both inside and outside the summit echoed warnings: Earth is truly entering a critical period with increasing greenhouse gas emissions, mainly carbon dioxide (CO2)...However, the climate summit of 2014 lacked an international agreement that could set goals, specific steps with responsibilities for each country...This can be understood as just a preparation meeting for the upcoming summit in Lima at the end of this year and the most anticipated content is the meaningful agreements that are expected to be reached at the subsequent member countries meeting in Paris in 2015...And especially, an important preparatory action is being carried out by an organization called the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) established in 1988 by the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), two UN organizations...IPCC is responsible for providing policy makers with periodic scientific assessments related to climate change, its impacts, future risks, as well as options for adaptation and mitigation of climate change effects...The report assesses the global climate change situation in the past 7 years just released in Copenhagen, Denmark, on November 2nd...The report affirms that the world is in a global warming state and most of it is due to human activities... It urges urgent measures to reduce the impact of climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions, ideally reaching zero emissions in this century...IPCC also suggests actions to deal with climate change such as investing in low-carbon energy sources, developing energy-efficient transportation, industries, and buildings... It also emphasizes the importance of carbon capture projects...The UN Secretary-General recently mentioned at the New York Summit forum the importance of keeping global temperature rise below 2 degrees Celsius and emphasized the need to reduce CO2 emissions by 40-70% from 2010 to 2050, moving towards zero emissions by 2100...
